All music lovers in the district should take an opportunity to be present at the Parramatta Town Hall next Saturday to hear Miss Vera Cree sing for the last time in Australia. This talented young Sydney contralto has had honors showered on her, gaining the only scholarship awarded in Australia this year by the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music. At her farewell concert in the Town Hall, Sydney, last month, scenes of enthusiasm prevailed, and it was acknowledged that it was the most brilliant success of its kind held in Sydney for years. A splendid programme will be given. Miss Cree will sing several of her favorite solos. Miss Gladys Bourke, the Sydney soprano, who is well known in Parramatta; Mr. Sid. McDonald, Sydney's popular tenor; Mr. Warwick McKenzle, the successful violinist, who has recently toured Australia; and the well known Scotch comedians, Mr. Ad Cree and Miss Jenny Cree, will add to the enjoyment of the programme. John Crea

Male, CreeID#8793, (1704 - 1799)
ChartsLine 4. The Northumberland line

It seems that John Crea and a possible brother George Crea lived at Low Barton, Northumberland, England, in the eighteenth century. Information about John and his descendants comes largely from Rob Bolton, who writes: John Crea (1704-1799), farmer at Low Barton, was Joshua Crea's father. The clue to most of this is in the Whittingham NC/Papist registers. We don't know where he was born, but Scotland seems likely, although with no direct supporting evidence...1

It is suggested that John Crea and George Crea and Rachael Crea were brothers and sister.. George and John both lived at Low Barton, a farm in Whittingham parish at the time they were having children It is also likely that Rachael was their sister. Rob Bolton writes, In a book called "Whittingham Vale" there's a comment that Low Barton farm was available to be leased in 1738. That would tie in with John Crea arriving and settling in the area. There are no Crea/Cree entries before this for that whole area. PS (May 2014) There was an Eliza Creigh married at Whittingham in 1729.1 John Crea was born in 1704.1 He was the son of (---) Crea.

His daughter Jane Crea was born on 23 April 1745 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland, England.2

His son Ralph Crea was born on 30 March 1748 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland.3

John Crea married Dorothy Middlemas on 11 June 1751 in Rothbury, Northumberland, England.4,5

His son John Crea was born on 28 June 1753 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland.3

His daughter Mary Crea was born on 3 November 1754 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland.2

His son Caleb Crea was born on 23 November 1756 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland.3

On 13 June 1758 John Crea was a witness, along with George Middlemass, at the marriage of John Henderson, par. of Eglingham, and Elizabeth Middlemas, in this par. (of Eglingham, Northumberland, England).6

His daughter Hannah Crea was born on 21 April 1763 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland.2

His son Joshua Crea was born on 30 December 1764 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland.3

His son Jacob Crea was born on 24 December 1766 in Low Barton, Whittingham, Northumberland.3

John Crea died in 1799.1
