Y-DNA tests on the descendants of Alexander Crie and Thomas Cray (of Kettle, Fife) show that they are closely related. The probability that they are brothers is more than 50%.2 Alexander Crie was born on 19 June 1673 in Perth, Scotland.3 He was the son of Alexander Crie and Kathrine Angus.1 Alexander Crie was baptised on 22 June 1673 in Perth.3

His son Alexander Crie was born c 1690?

On 17 December 1699 Alexander Crie and Alexander Crie were living in Cala-fountain, Forteviot, Perthshire, Scotland, along with Thomas Crie. Callarfountain is shown on the current 1:25000 scale OS map at Grid Ref 102208 with Hilton Hill a few hundred metres to its NW. It is little more than 2 km from the centre of Perth and in Forgandenny parish but was formerly a detached part of Forteviot parish. Groome's Gazetteer of Scotland says, under Forgandenny, "In 1891 the Boundary Commissioners transferred to Forgandenny parish the Hilton detached part." Under Forteviot, Groome mentions, "the Hilton section, immediately W of Craigend village, and 2 miles ENE of the main body [of Forteviot...]". What is important for us if that this Hilton portion is N of the River Earn with no crossing place for some distance and so in effect detached from both Forteviot and Forgandenny. It is in fact just along the road from Aberdalgie parish.4

His son Thomas Crie was baptised on 17 December 1699 in Forgandenny, Perthshire, Scotland.4

His son John Cree was baptised on 10 February 1706 in Aberdalgie, Perthshire, Scotland.5

Catherine Cree married Alexander Crie, son of Alexander Crie and Jean Steill, c 1680. It seems likely that Catherine and Alexander were related as 1st or 2nd cousins.

Her daughter Issobell Crie was born on 6 April 1682 in Perth, Scotland.2

Her daughter Margaret Crie was born on 10 April 1693 in Perth.3

Catherine Cree died in September 1699.4,5 Thomas Crie gave up the testament dative of Catherine Cree at St Andrews, Fife, Scotland, on 4 October 1699.6

Harrie Crie was a burgess of the Burgh of Perth and a member of the Incorporation of Tailors.1 He was born c 1598. He was the son of William Crie (burgess of Perth).

Harrie Crie married Isobell Schairp before 1620.

His son William Crie was born c 1620.

His son David Crie was baptised on 24 March 1622 in Perth, Scotland.2

His son John Crie was baptised on 24 April 1625 in Perth.2

His son Harrie Crie was baptised on 19 June 1627 in Perth; Witnesses were Harrie Moncrieff and Johne Andersone, merchant.2

John Bryce, merchant, burgess of Perth and Margaret Crie his spouse discharge her sister Agnes Crie and mother Margaret Cairncross of the 1000 marks due from the death of her father William Crie per their 1668 marriage contract.6
